But wow, it is the most expensive site ever with that so called “one-time activation fee” they charge! No other online dating site that I have found charges an activation fee. Then I took a 4 week break and stopped paying but kept my profile active on the website. When I questioned it, they say it is a fee charged every time you subscribe That is so misleading to customers, actually outright lying! And what is worse is that you cannot find any mention of this activation fee and the rules around it in their terms and policies! I will not come back to this site, even if they waive the fee, which they are now offering to go, because that is just so wrong, such a glaring online scam that everyone needs to be aware of. In the utopian world coded by tech entrepreneurs, people would navigate the information flow and engage in quality conversations online. But that now seems idealistic and a little naive. Andrew McLaughlin, former director of public policy at Google, said the best metaphor for the current state of the internet is the so-called Tragedy of the Commons. Ev Williams, who cofounded Twitter and founded Medium, has always believed that if we could speak freely, the world would be a better place.
But lately, he’s realized it’s not quite so simple.

The heated exchange between Trump and Acosta happened during a White House press conference on November 7. But President Trump in his characteristic loose way of speaking fired back at Acosta.
I think you should let me run the country. And if you did it well, your ratings would be much better. Bush in Bush v. Olson said the First Amendment protects the rights of journalists to ask elected public officials tough questions. It is imperative that independent journalists have access to the President and his activities, and that journalists are not barred for arbitrary reasons. Our news organizations support the fundamental constitutional right to question this President, or any President.
She said this was not the first time the reporter has monopolized the floor. However, videos of the incident recorded by other journalists at the conference show a mild interaction between Acosta and the intern with Acosta largely pulling away. Others have interpreted the exchange differently and accused Acosta of aggressive behavior. I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.

Email Last Updated May 5, 3: The cafe is suing Starbucks over the drink, claiming the sugary Frappuccino overshadowed its “Unicorn Latte. While Starbucks’ colorful unicorn Frappuccino was made with ingredients including sugar and natural and artificial flavors, The End’s Unicorn Latte, which the cafe says took six months to develop, is whipped together with artisanal ingredients like dates, ginger root and algae that might appeal to hipster enclaves.
Neither drink contains coffee. The complaint notes that customers started to ask The End to create Unicorn Frappuccinos for them, while online publications referred to Starbucks’ product as a Unicorn Latte. A spokesperson for Starbucks said the lawsuit is without merit. The unicorn Frappuccino, sold between April , was the company’s first new Frappuccino flavor this year.
The End claims Starbucks’ version of a unicorn-themed drink created a misperception that the small cafe was copying the giant coffee chain, the lawsuit claims. Starbucks’ unicorn Frappuccino appeared to be a hit, at least based on social media buzz. The coffee giant is also dealing with competition from smaller stores that appeal to younger consumers. A whiff of unicorn magic may be giving a boost to Starbucks’ stock price. The shares have increased more than 9 percent this year, compared with a 6.

In New York and California, online impersonation is a misdemeanor punishable by thousands of dollars in fines and up to a year in jail. In Texas, the crime is a third-degree felony that could land perpetrators up to ten years in prison. In total at least nine states have an online impersonation law on the books or are currently considering one.
Even if the impersonation involves a fake persona, the use of any real names, business or photography could cross the legal threshold. While Missouri focused specifically on cyberbullying, other states broadened the scope of their laws to address online impersonation of adults as well. Typically, the perpetrator knows the victim—it might be a frustrated ex-husband who wants to embarrass his former spouse by taking over her Facebook account or a recently fired employee who tries to sink a company by posing as the boss through email.
The Unspoken New Admissions Test In all of the state statutes, the key element that elevates social media shenanigans from the level of a simple prank to a punishable crime is the intent to do harm, threaten, intimidate or defraud another person. However, defining harm is a tricky proposition for the justice system.

The case involved a dispute between the social networking platform Grindr and an individual who was maliciously targeted through the platform by his former lover. For the unfamiliar, Grindr is mobile app directed to gay and bisexual men that, using geolocation technology, helps them to connect with other users who are located nearby. Plaintiff Herrick alleged that his ex-boyfriend set up several fake profiles on Grindr that claimed to be him.
Over a thousand users responded to the impersonating profiles. Herrick then sued Grindr, claiming that the company was liable to him because of the defective design of the app and the failure to police such conduct on the app. Specifically, Herrick alleged that the Grindr app lacked safety features that would prevent bad actors such as his former boyfriend from using the app to impersonate others. Herrick also claimed that Grindr had a duty to warn him and other users that it could not protect them from harassment stemming from impersonators.
The court held that it is a distinction without a difference that the Grindr service is accessed through a smart phone app rather than a website.
